New residence on prominent one acre lot within the Lenox Historic District. The client and architect started with the concept of a Greek Revival house both elegant and pristine in its detailing. The front façade features a traditional pediment, half round window, and small front porch with round columns and dentil. The house was designed to appear as if it was expanded organically over time with a rear ell, a kitchen wing, and then a one car garage at the back. The garage was detailed with board and batten siding, a cupola, and modified hip roof to blend with neighboring 100 year old carriage barns. It also very clearly differentiates itself from the house, yet is connected by an open air screen porch structure which provides shelter entering the house and for outdoor dining. We also worked with the client to design interior finishes such as elaborate crowns and casings, custom kitchen cabinetry, raised paneling, herringbone floors, and traditional marble tile bathrooms.

5000 sf stabilization and renovation to guest quarters of a 200′ long dairy barn dating from the 1860′s. The structure was jacked up 30″ so the old rubble foundation could be completely removed and a new foundation poured along with a new floor system framed in. The barn received all new windows to balance the facades, new siding, roofing, stone veneer, and custom mahogany barn doors. Inside, the main high space was left intact while the two story section was converted to guest space with large eat-in kitchen, living room, two bedrooms, and four bathrooms.

This 3000 sf brick home dates from 1820 and deserves a sensitive rehabilitation. The exterior features will remain intact while a complete renovation of the interiors takes place along with some necessary structural stabilization of the wood floor systems.

A sensitive renovation turns a 1790′s colonial in the Berkshires into a welcoming home for the present and future while preserving a warm connection to bygone days.

This 1800 sf complete renovation of the main living level of a converted three story barn more fully exposed the wonderful heavy frame of the original posts and beams. Interior walls were removed and built in furniture was introduced to define the dining, living, and home office space. Two new stairways were designed, one to lead people upstairs from the main entry along a hand forged iron balustrade and the other to the private master bedroom with a solid wall to partially block the view to the bedroom hallway. A wall of built in cabinetry was designed for the expanded mudroom entry to present a clutter-free space to arriving guests. Interior Design by William Caligari.

This photo studio and workspace was inserted into an existing five-car garage. The exterior was designed to fit in with an existing wide clapboard and log sided cabin with traditional windows and a matching cantilevered balcony. The expansive interior was given contemporary lighting, steel railings, and modern finishes. Natural light was introduced with shed dormers and skylights over the computer area.

This large addition doubled the existing house size with a two car garage facing the street and a two story addition behind. A new breezeway connects to the two additions and contains the main entry and powder room. New first floor space houses a large living room and a one story sunroom in the rear yard. A second story bedroom suite with private exterior entry is rented in summer months. The new work matches the existing roof pitch and window style of the existing Cape Cod.

This extensive addition to a small Cape involved a new kitchen and master bedroom, multiple bathrooms, and a new second floor office above a two-car garage. The traditional form of the Cape with a shed dormer toward the rear view was integrated with the original small Cape by a large breezeway connector and new main entry porch. This 20′ x 40′ open air pavilion is sited on the edge of the croquet courts between two ancient trees. It is designed with a hipped roof, deep overhangs, and a cupola. At the rear it includes two bathrooms and a small kitchen.
