The primary goal was to create a great room for an historic home that has several small rooms. The new room had to accommodate a fireplace, TV viewing, primary dining area and a strong connection to the existing kitchen as well as connection to the new two-car garage. The front porch and rear deck were modified to adapt to the addition. Stylistically the addition is made up of distinct volumes that work with the existing house’s separate sections to create the cohesive image of a rambling farmhouse.
